The Champions League is yet to reach its knock-out stages, but legend Diego Maradona has already made his prediction: Jose Mourinho will give Real Madrid the Champions League title.
Maradona, who watched Los Blancos take part in a training session at Valdebebas last week, tipped the “Special One” to work out wonders in Europe for Real Madrid. As he shared his views on Mourinho and on the chances of the 9-time Champions League winners this season, Diego Maradona declared:

“He will hand Real Madrid the Champions League title. You’ve got to give Mourinho some time though, so that the players will be able to understand what he wants.

“You see, the same thing happened to Inter Milan under Jose Mourinho. The Italians won their first European Cup after almost 50 years.

“If Real Madrid wait for Jose Mourinho, I’m sure he will give them the Champions League title in no time.”

Well, Diego Maradona’s endorsement may not have much impact on the confidence of Real Madrid supporters. Although the 1986 World Cup champion is venerated as a god and portrayed as a supernatural hero by his most fervent supporters, he hasn’t achieved perfection in terms of promises and predictions in football.

The Argentine legend revealed that he had seen the Albicelestes lifting the 2010 World Cup trophy in his dreams at night. However, the reality saw Argentina suffer a surprising 4-0 demolition against Germany in the quarter-finals of that tournament.

Real Madrid fans better hope that Los Blancos don’t get caught by misfortune in their quest for Champions League success at last! Besides, they have a Last 16 jinx to break before dreaming of reaching the skies in Europe. That curse, which has seen Real Madrid crash out of the Champions League in the Round of 16 for the past 6 years, is another reason why Los Blancos want to get a good result against Ajax on Tuesday night. It's all about keeping the momentum alive...
