Match stats

  • This will be the third meeting between Real Madrid and Leganés, but this will be the first La Liga match they play against each other. Both games prior to this match were Copa del Rey fixtures, and Real Madrid managed to beat Los Pepineros both times.

  • Real Madrid gets to this match on a three-game winning streak in La Liga. Leganés has only been able to win one of their last five matches.

Team news

After a week in which Zidane's choice of using Karim Benzema as the team's striker was subject to questioning, the French striker picked up a knock during the team's UCL clash against Legia, giving Morata the opportunity to start the game. Added to the Frenchman's absence, Los Blancos will have to make do without Pepe, Sergio Ramos and Casemiro.

Knowing that this will be a tough match to win, coach Asier Garitano has focused on trying to make his team as fit as possible during their first-ever visit to the Bernabeu in a league match. Defender Adrián Marín is the only injury doubt for the Madrid-based club.

"We will have to suffer, but we'll try to be balanced on both ends of the pitch while making the most out of our chances."
