Pep Guardiola is used to being praised by footballers, fans, managers and a section of the press - but Rakitic's recent confession is just something else.

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic (pictured below) made a huge revelation about the club’s former manager Pep Guardiola. The Croatian recently revealed that he would love to play under the experienced Spanish tactician one day. And he also revealed that he chose the number four shirt at the Catalan giants to follow in the footsteps of his ‘icon’ Pep, who wore the same shirt number during his days as a player for the La Liga defending champions. Ivan RakiticRakitic was speaking ahead of Barcelona’s trip to Manchester, where they will face City on Tuesday in the Champions League. When asked about Pep, he said:

''Maybe we can have a coffee together. When I took the No 4 jersey it was purely because of him. It was a great opportunity. I took it with both hands. He was one of the best in the world. Your team-mates tell you all about him.

''I hope he is really successful in the future after tomorrow. It would be great to play for him one day. If I don’t, he can come for a coffee!''

The 28-year-old midfielder joined Barca in 2014 from Spanish side Sevilla and has since scored 14 goals in 75 league appearances. He has also won the league twice, Copa del Rey twice, Supercoppa de Espana once, UEFA Champions League once, UEFA Super Cup once and the FIFA Club World Cup once.
