With Wayne Rooney's career at Manchester United seemingly getting close to a conclusion, a return to his boyhood club would be possible, if it was Ronald Koeman's choice.
Speaking in today's pre-match conference, the Dutch boss shared his thoughts on the impact Rooney's comeback to his first professional club could have. Even if he tried to be respectful about the player's situation, who has been reportedly told by José Mourinho to look for other employment opportunities, Koeman admitted that having Rooney around would boost the team's frontline.

Rooney has played 12 games for Manchester United in all comps this season, scoring only one goal so far. His lack of form caused Mourinho to drop him from the team's starting lineup, and sparked rumors about a possible departure from Old Trafford. Other options for Rooney would be joining the Los Angeles Galaxy or the Chinese Super League, where coach Sven-Goran Eriksson has revealed an interest to sign the out of form striker.
