Pep Guardiola may be known today as one of the most successful tacticians in football history. But his sloppy start with Barcelona cast a few doubts about his chances of success. It was only a motivational talk by none other than Andres Iniesta what showed Guardiola his approach on football would be the right one to achieve success.
Iniesta revealed an excerpt of his book, "The Artist", in which he decided to hold a pep talk with the Catalan boss after two straight games without a win. Iniesta eased the coach's urge to change things after losing to Numancia and earning a draw against Racing by telling him just how the team was appreciating his tactics.
"Don't worry boss, we'll win it all. We're on the right track. Carry on like this, OK? We're playing brilliantly, we're enjoying training. Please don't change anything. This year we are going to steamroller everyone," Iniesta narrates in his book.
Apparently, Guardiola paid attention to his words, since he won almost every trophy his team played for while under Manchester City's manager.
The 2010 World Cup winner with Spain spoke ahead of Guardiola's first Manchester Derby with the Sky Blues. "El Fantasma" believes his former boss will enjoy a successful stint in the EPL, particularly because he can adapt to whatever circumstances he runs into.
"Pep knows how to adapt and he'll adapt to the Premier League. He has made sure to get people on his staff who are going to help him do that. Mikel Arteta is only going to speed up that process. And they have strengthened the squad very well over the summer. City are competitive in all departments," Iniesta added in an interview with the Daily Mail.
