Team news

USMNT

No Clint Dempsey. Or Michael Bradley. Or Jermaine Jones. Or Gyasi Zardes. However, that proved to be no problem for Jurgen Klinsmann's men this past Friday. The Stars and Stripes easily brushed aside minnows St. Vincent & the Grenadines, with five different players - Bobby Wood, Matt Besler, Jozy Altidore, Christian Pulisic, and Sacha Kljestan - all getting on the score-sheet.

It was a special night for several of the players, with Besler grabbing his debut senior goal and rising starlet Pulisic setting yet another record. The 17-year-old, who plies his trade for Borussia Dortmund, is now the youngest ever player to not just score in World Cup qualifying, but also to net a brace after coming on as a second-half substitute.

At this juncture, the USMNT are on ten points, whilst Trinidad sit one ahead on 11 and Guatemala on seven. A win sends them to the last round as group winners, whilst a also will be enough, even if the Guatemalans win. Even a defeat will not rule them out of booking a spot in Russia in less than two years, provided that Guatemala somehow don't manage to absolutely slaughter St. Vincent & the Grenadines to overcome the goal differential between the two sides. Currently, the USMNT stand at +13, whilst Guatemala are at +1.

Although Brad Guzan featured for Klinsmann's side in the last game, Tim Howard could return to the fold for this one. Bradley is also expected to make his return following a ban that saw him miss out on the team's match against St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Trinidad & Tobago

With three wins and two draws, the Soca Warriors have yet to lose a game so far in qualifying. They arrive in Florida having secured their spot in the Hex with a 2-2 draw against Guatemala, and having held the USMNT to a draw in their last meeting, would certainly hope to conclude round four with at least a point in hand.

For Stephen Hart's side, the fact that they have gotten this far is an achievement in itself. Trinidad & Tobago have only qualified for one World Cup in their history: the 2006 edition, in which they became the smallest ever nation to feature in the quadrennial tournament.
