Gignac had a chance to make France the champions of Europe in regular time but the posts could not allow him.

André-Pierre Christian Gignac missed a glorious chance to put hosts France in front in the finals of the European Championship played on Sunday at Stade de France.The 30-year-old forward has beaten Portugal's defence and goalkeeper but his shot was stopped by the posts as the match headed into extra-time.

The hosts would blame themselves for taking the match to extra-time despite the absence of key forward for Portugal, Cristiano Ronaldo.
