French midfielder could hold the record of the most expensive transfer in modern football if he agrees to join Man United this summer.

Premier League giants Manchester United are not yet done with their transfer business. After signing Eric Bailly from Villarreal, Zlatan Ibrahimovic who was a free agent, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Borrusia Dortmund, Jose Mourinho is now eyeing his fourth signing as Man United boss. Speaking during his first press conference as the club’s new boss, he confirmed the club’s intention to bring in a fourth player ahead of the new season. The 54-year-old told journalists:

''We made a nucleus of four priorities, four positions to give a certain balance to the squad, to give a certain push in terms of quality and the qualities I need and want.

''I am more a manager that likes specialists and not so much the multi-functional players.’’

The widely-travelled manager is reportedly willing to spend 100 million pounds to bring Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba to Old Trafford this summer. This would make the 23-year-old the most expensive player in the world since Gareth Bale’s move from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid for 85 million pounds back in 2013.

The Daily Mail also reports that the Red Devils are willing to offer him a five-year contract to stay at the club amid interest from European champions Real Madrid.

The youngster started his senior footballing career with the Old Trafford outfit before he was unceremoniously released to Juventus in 2012 by Sir Alex Ferguson. He has since reinvented himself with the Serie A giants to become the most sought-after footballer this summer.
