Spain legend Xavi Hernandez has revealed his thoughts following Vicente del Bosque's decision to quit the national team.

The former Barcelona captain urges del Bosque's replacement to not disrupt Spain's style of play. Xavi also suggested Paco Jemez, Michel, and Julen Lopetegui are potential candidates to lead the Spanish national team.

In a recent interview with AS, the 36-year-old midfielder claims that it is very important for the new coach to not change La Roja's style of play, as it has given them much success throughout the last decade.

"The idea must be the same as Vicente, Luis Aragones, which we began to play a bit with Camacho, and that Inaki Saez already had.

"There are fewer and fewer coaches who believe in this style. But this is how we have won things. I like the ideas of Paco [Jemez], but also of Michel or Lopetegui."

Despite Xavi living in Qatar where he plays for club Al-Sadd, the ex-Blaugrana insists he is in regular touch with the Spanish FA.

"I have a very good relationship with them, they do very good work.

"[RFEF president Angel Maria] Villar for me is a very proven person for Spanish football -- I spoke with him recently. He is a gentleman, a football man and very hard working. I believe [a sporting director] is important. Not just to monitor all the players who could be called up, but also to be a link between the coaching staff and the players."

Spain was sent home from Euro 2016 with a painful 2-0 defeat to Italy in the last 16 round of the tournament, which resulted in del Bosque's farewell to his national side.
