German international Andre Schürrle is Thomas Tuchel's top target to replace the Armenian midfielder with the yellow-and-black crew.

In what has turned out to be quite a busy transfer window, Borussia Dortmund's officers seem to think that it's time to start adding names to their team. After completing three multi-million euro deals for Mats Hummels, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ilkay Gundogan, the yellow-and-black side have set their sights on André Schürrle to boost their squad.

Schürrle played under coach Thomas Tuchel at Mainz from 2009 to 2011, just before the German international had his breakthrough season with Bayer Leverkusen.

Dortmund's chances of signing Schürrle were given sort of a boost by Wolfsburg's sporting director, Klaus Allofs. In an interview published by German website WAZ, the Wolves' exec admitted the club could look into selling the player, even if they didn't want to watch him pack his bags.

"We want to hold on to Andre and qualify for the Champions League again with him. But we obviously have to look at the economical side of things as well, even if we do not have to sell. It's clear that Dortmund's interest in Schürrle is related to his past with Tuchel," Allofs stated.

The 25-year old is currently in France with the German National Team. He has played three out of four games with Die Mannschaft, all of them as a sub. Since his return to the Bundesliga in 2015, Schürrle has scored 10 goals in 43 apps for the Wolves, helping them reach the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Finals.
