Croatia’s Luka Modric scored a wonderful volley to give his side the much-needed three points in their Euro 2016 Group D opener against Turkey. The Real Madrid midfielder pounced on a poor clearance from Selcuk Inan and fired it past the helpless Volkan Babacan to secure a 1-0 win. The 25-yard stunner sent football fans on Twitter into a frenzy particularly Los Blancos fans who consider the 30-year-old as one of their best midfielders in recent times. Croatia came into this match as the dark horses and had a rough time trying to unlock packed midfield that affected the flow of the ball. The Vatreni will now set their eyes on winning Group D to avoid facing the likes of Belgium if they finish second at the group stage. Ante Cacic’s men are also aiming to go past the quarter-finals of the competition for the first time in their history.
They face Czech Republic in their next Euro 2016 fixture on June 17th, while Turkey face Spain on the same.
Here is how football fans on Twitter reacted to the awesome goal from the midfield maestro:
Modric has saved me my life, my kids and now my money.

If anyone doesn't like Modric, they need to get in the bin, close the lid and wait for the binmen to come round and take them away #EURO2016
