Copa America defending champions Chile play Bolivia at the Gillete Stadium in Massachusetts on Friday night. Here is all you need to know about this match.

Bolivia come into this match as the underdogs and risk booking an early flight back home if they lose against the South American giants. Both sides lost their opening fixtures and will be in dire need of a win to increase their chance of survival.

Chile lost 2-1 to Argentina in Santa Clara, California in their opening game of the tournament. On the other hand, Bolivia went down 2-1 to Panama on Monday and another loss here could mark the end of their participation in the tournament.

Similarly, if Bolivia pull a shock win over Chile, the 2015 champions could be bundled out of the tournament. Chile seem to have set their foot off the pedal after winning the Copa America in 2015. They lost to Mexico and Jamaica before travelling to the USA to defend their title, a mission that could be jeopardized by a defeat to lowly-ranked Bolivia.

With only two spots available for the teams that will proceed to the knockout stage of the competition, we can expect both sides to play a careful game against each other and avoid conceding. To make things worse for both Chile and Bolivia, they could be eliminated if the Argentina vs Panama fixture ends in a draw.

Chile have a superior record over Bolivia based on their last 11 meetings. Out of the 11 matches, Chile have won seven, drawn three and lost only once. Bolivia’s only win against Chile was back in 2002 in their world cup qualification match.

Since then, Chile have not failed to score at least two goals against Bolivia. When the two sides last met in 2015 in the Copa America, Chile won 5-0.

These two sides could play a careful game on Friday to avoid elimination from the competition. However, due to the fact that a draw between them may not be the best result to look for especially after losing their opening fixtures, you can back Chile to win this match in order to save their image as defending champions.  Which
