The Brazilian player had been called up to take Douglas Costa's place, but he came down with a muscular injury earlier this week.

Bad news for Kaka's fans around the world, as the former Ballon D'Or winner will be left out of Brazil's squad for the upcoming Copa América Centenario.

Orlando City's playmaker had been called up this Monday by coach Dunga. Kaká was supposed to take Douglas Costas' place in the squad, but an inconvenient injury will prevent the 34-year old to make an appearance in the historic tournament.

Things seemed to be on the right track for the Brazilian ace this Monday.

One of A Canarinha's officers aiding the team in Los Angeles revealed what went wrong with the former Milan and Real Madrid footballer.

"Kaká has had discomfort in training and has had an MRI, which showed a small problem. Doctors indicate between 15 and 20 days of recovery," officer Gilmar Rinaldi informed.

The playmaker is the seventh Brazilian player considered by coach Dunga who had to be left out due to injury. Douglas Costa, Ricardo Oliveira, Ederson, Rafinha, Miranda and Luiz Gustavo won't be playing with the Verdeamarelha side this summer after picking up various injuries.

Kaká's place in the squad will be handed to Sao Paulo's midfielder Paulo Henrique Ganso, but the Brazilian squad needs to be granted a permit to add the player, since the official squads had to be handed in before this week.

The five-time World Champions are included in Group B of the competition, where they will fight for a spot in the knockout stages against Haiti, Perú and Ecuador.
