There were some unexpected surprises as England named their official Euro 2016 squad.

England manager Roy Hodgson has named the final squad that will travel to France to represent the country in the upcoming Euro 2016 from June 10 to July 10.

Unfortunately for Leicester City and Newcastle United fans, they will not be able to watch their superstars Danny Drinkwater and Andros Townsend in the European tournament as they were axed from the final squad. The two were allegedly informed of their omission during a meeting with Hodgson on Tuesday morning after training.

Despite playing only 58 minutes for The Three Lions since September 2014, the ex-Chelsea man is hopeful that he will feature in the friendly clash against Portugal at Wembley.

Man United’s teenage sensation Marcus Rashford (below) also made it to the final squad after providing a series of sterling performances both for club and country. He scored on his debut for England against Australia and received a standing ovation when he was replaced by Ross Barkley. This comes barely a day after the 18-year-old signed a new deal with the Red Devils ahead of the new season.
