There were the obvious inclusions of Cristiano and Messi, who were joined by six Atletico stars.

On Monday, UEFA announced their Squad of the Season, after seeing the 2015/16 campaign wrap up on Saturday. With Real Madrid being crowned winners, it came as little surprise that the now 11-time recipients dominated the list.

Cristiano and Co. were one of the two most dominant sides in the list, as the three-time Ballon d’Or winner stared thanks to his 16-goal haul this season, featuring alongside captain Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Gareth Bale.

With 6 players on the list, they were tied with runners-up Atletico, who sadly lost the final in Milan on penalties. French ace Antoine Griezmann, despite missing a crucial second-half penalty which could have won them the title, features, whilst defensive duo Diego Godin and Juanfran, captain Gabi, hot-shot goalie Jan Oblak, and Spanish midfielder Koke all earned a spot.

Bayern, who crashed out of the tournament this year in the semi-finals for the third consecutive season, had two players on the list, with Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski making the cut. PSG, on the other hand, had only one player make the squad in the form of Brazilian center-back Thiago Silva.

Last season’s Champions League winner Barca had the third most players on the list, despite crashing out in the last 8, with star strikers Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez entering the list. Elsewhere, influential captain Andres Iniesta was one of five midfielders to make the list.
