Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink believes John Terry is good enough to maintain his career as a professional footballer for a few more years. However, Hiddink admits that he has no idea if the English man will have a future at Chelsea.

The Blue's captain has been a talking point in the media after he was sent off during Chelsea's 3-2 loss to Sunderland. Not only was it Terry's second red card of the season, but he might end his career with his English side on a negative note, as he will serve a two-game suspension.

The ban will rule him out of Chelsea's remaining two fixtures which are Wednesday's Premier League clash against Liverpool and Sunday's match against the new champions of England Leicester City.

The 35-year old will run out of his contract this summer and has insisted on staying with the club, but Chelsea has yet to make any new offers to the long-serving Blues captain.

Speaking to the press conference, Hiddink claimed that John Terry should continue to play at the highest level.

"When I make a judgement on how he plays and his fitness on his age, he's able to play, he's able to continue."

"Where? What the near future is is up to the club, it's not for me to make declarations on that."

The Dutch manager also admitted the major blow the team has received after Terry was punished with a two-match ban.

"He has been training in recent days. Of course, when you come on the pitch for training after being sent off it's not the most beautiful face."

"He started to lift up his morale and trained okay. Of course, not being there in the last two games is a blow for him and for us."
