Man United could lure one of Real Madrid’s key players to Old Trafford this summer.

Premier League giants Manchester United are said to be leading the race to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to French publication Le 10 Sport. The report suggests that the Frenchman is unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeu after being left out of key Champions League matches this season despite being fully fit and available for selection. The former Lens man is said to be feeling neglected, and Man United are said to be preparing a lucrative deal to have him play in England next season.

Bundesliga winners Bayern Munich are also said to be eyeing the 23-year-old, but the Red Devils’ interest seems to have gone a notch higher.

However, Varane has featured in quite a good number of games for Los Blancos in La Liga this season (26), compared to his UCL appearances (7). He was also available in Zidane’s squad that demolished Valencia 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu last weekend, a result that now takes the title race to the wire between two perennial rivals Real and Barca next weekend.

Zidane’s men travel to Deportivo on May 15th in their final match of the season which they must win while hoping that their rivals lose or draw. On the other hand, Luis Enrique’s men travel to Granada on the same day when they could be crowned champions if they win this fixture.
