Tottenham Hotspur seemed to have received a special gift from Man United's Matteo Darmian in their quest to clinch the Premier League title.

Manchester United fans took to social media to air their anger at Matteo Darmian’s defensive blunders that gave Spurs three goals in six minutes.

It was a balanced game at the White Hart Lane not until the 74th minute when the Italian defender came in for Timothy Fosu Mensah who had been superb throughout the match, keeping Spur’s strikers at bay. However, the Dutch defender picked up a knock hence paving way for the former Torino man.

Moments after his introduction into the game, the hosts found the back of the net thrice in six minutes to pick up a 3-0 victory over Louis Van Gaal’s men.

Coincidentally, all the three goals came from Man Utd’s right hand side of the pitch, a position where Darmian was supposed to provide enough cover. As a result, Man United fans roasted the 26-year-old on Twitter:

As for LVG, he was also slammed by a section of the Red Devils fans who were not pleased by his decision to play Ashley Young as the lone striker upfront:

The result now puts Man United’s European football hopes in the balance as they will need to win all their remaining games and hope their closest opponents Man City will drop points along the way. The Old Trafford outfit now sits at the 5th position on the log with 53 points, 7 below fourth-placed City.

Van Gaal’s men will now have to beat bottom-placed Aston Villa, high-flying West Ham, title-contenders Leicester City, struggling Norwich City and Bournemouth to fight for a place in next season’s Champions League spot.
