The Leicester City striker has hit out at the culprits, calling them “shocking and vile".

Police in Leicestershire have confirmed that they are currently investigating rape threats that were directed at English Premier League striker Jamie Vardy’s one-year-old daughter.

The Leicester City superstar hit out at the culprits, calling them “shocking and vile” after his family fell victims to disgusting Twitter trolls.

The 29-year-old Englishman’s fiancé Rebecca Nicholson posted a picture of their 1-year-old daughter wearing a Foxes “Daddy” number 9 shirt, which led to the shocking threats.

A spokesperson of Leicestershire Police confirmed to ITV News that they are aware of the threats made, and are working closely with the English Premier League leaders to get to the bottom of this case.

“Leicestershire Police is investigating a report of malicious communication being sent via social media," read a statement.

“A report was made today (Monday 4 April) of an abusive message being received yesterday evening (Sunday 3 April) by a woman on Twitter.

“Enquiries remain ongoing and the force is liaising with Leicester City Football Club.”

According to ITV News, the accounts believed to have made the atrocious trolls were either deleted or suspended.

The Three Lions attacker has been influential in Leicester City’s unexpected push for the league crown, as Claudio Ranieri’s boys sit on top of the table and on their way to the title ahead of Spurs, Arsenal, Man City, and Man United.

Vardy hasn’t scored in the Premier League in his last six outings, having last found the back of the net in the 2-1 defeat to the Gunners back in February 14.

However, his 19 goals in the current campaign has shot Leicester City into the front seat of the title race.
