Premier League side Manchester United host Everton at Old Trafford on April 3, 2016. Here is everything you need to know about this crucial fixture.

Although they sit at the 12th position in the league table, Everton have a good reputation of destroying top clubs in the Premier League, most recently Chelsea in the FA Cup at the Goodison Park. The Toffees boast of the likes of the on-form Romelu Lukaku, who has been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford. That factor in mind, football fans can expect the Belgium international to play his heart out away from home on Sunday, hoping to prove a point to his would-be employers.

The ex-Chelsea man is one of the only four players to have scored a hat-trick against Man Utd in the Premier League, alongside Dirk Kuyt, Samuel Eto’o and David Bentley. He has also scored six goals in his last seven games for Roberto Martinez’s men in all competitions this season, and is in strong contention for the Golden Boot with 18 goals to his name so far. Only Harry Kane (21) and Jamie Vardy (19) have more goals than the 22-year-old.

On the other hand, Man United are fighting for a top four finish in order to earn a place in next year’s Champions League amid numerous injury concerns.

Everton have won 4 of their last 7 league games against the Red Devils but before that, they had lost the other 3 fixtures. Ahead of this crucial clash that could either make or break Man Utd’s top four hopes, fans of the home team will be glad to discover that the visitors have only won one of their last 22 league games at the Theatre of Dreams.

This, however, does not necessarily stop the likes of Lukaku from finding the back of the net considering the fact that other Premier League clubs such as Norwich City have previously managed to break their winless record at Old Trafford. Before December 19, 2016, The Canaries had not beaten Louis Van Gaal’s men at Old Trafford since 26 years ago. Their sheer determination to break the 26-year-old record inspired them to a 2-1 win and the same story could be said about Everton, who are looking for their first win in their last 21 attempts at Old Trafford.

The hosts are also looking to break their own record by earning their first four successive home win since their six-match winning run in April last year. LVG’s men have proven to be quite solid at home, having lost only two league goals and conceded seven goals in the process. Interestingly, 57% of Man Utd’s win in all competitions this season have come with Morgan Schneiderlin starting, while 35% were without the former Southampton man.
