Both teams are desperate to climb to the top spots of the South American Qualifiers, and only a win will help them to do so. Check out our preview for this game below.

After a three-month break, the South American World Cup Qualifiers return in full force to bring excitement to fans all over the world. Particuarly, a number of teams will benefit from the experience and class some footballers show while playing in Europe, and in this particular case, Bolivia will try to stop a powerfu but shaky Colombian National Team.

The Bolivians get to this match ranked eighth in CONMEBOL's WC Qualifiers, struggling under recently appointed manager Julio César Valdivieso. On the other hand, Colombia's 7th place in the tournament shows that some of their key players have endured a number of injuries, preventing them from reaching higher ground against less-talented teams.

Bolivia

Coach Valdivieso decided to leave some of the team's historic players out of his most recent call up sheet. Players such as Marcelo Martins and Pablo Escobar decided to step down from the National Team until some of their Federation's execs resign from their jobs. With that in mind, Valdivieso will rely on the skills of Jhasmani Campos (Kazma SC) and Damian Lizio (Botafogo) to lead the Bolivians to a much needed victory.

Bolivia's squad features the lowest amount of players performing abroad with only six footballers not performing in their home country. Those players are: Lizio, Campos, Luis Gutiérrez (Ironi Kyriat), Martin Smedberg (IFK-Goteborg), Carlos Quiroga (FC Barcelona) & Yasmani Duk (NY Cosmos) play in foreing countries.

Colombia

Los Cafetaleros have struggled ever since they dazzled the world with their ball-handling skills and their dance moves during the 2014 World Cup. Their Copa América campaign ended in the Quarter final stage, and their current qualification process hasn't been as shiny, mainly because the low form shown by players such as James Rodriguez, Jackson Martinez and Radamel Falcao.

For the game against Bolivia, coach Nestor Pekerman chose to leave Falcao and Jackson Martinez out of his call up sheet, and decided to give one more chance to veteran Dayro Moreno (Tijuana) and Adrián Ramos (Borussia Dortmund). Furthermore, Pekerman will give Juan Cuadrado the chance to lead the team's midfield, considering the wonderful season he's enjoying with Juventus.

Head to head

These National Teams have played 27 times against each other, with Colombia dominating their meetings with 12 wins and nine draws. Out of the five times Colombia has played in the Bolivian city of La Paz during World Cup Qualifiers, the hosts have won one game, lost another, and drawn three times. Colombia's latest visit to Bolivian soil ended with a 2-1 win for James Rodriguez's crew.
