Chelsea's defense of the EPL title may have been quite disappointing, but things have improved for them ever since Guus Hiddink took over the team's managerial duties, and the Dutch manager will have one more thing to brag about once his term as the Blues' manager comes to a close.
Last weekend, Hiddink led Chelsea to its 12th consecutive EPL game without a loss, setting a new Premier League record. Back in 1994, Frank Clark became the record holder while coaching Nottingham Forest, leading the East Midlands side to eleven consecutive matches without a loss.
Bertrand Traore's goal gave Chelsea the lead against Stoke last weekend, but Mame Diouf scored the equalizer with just 5 minutes left in the game.
The former Netherlands manager has won five games with Chelsea, drawing seven more. Under Hiddink, the Blues have defeated Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Newcastle, Southampton and Norwich City. On the other hand, the Dutchman's crew wasn't able to defeat Watford and Man United, earning two draws against them, while adding similar results against West Brom, Everton and Stoke City.
Hiddink also surpassed Chelsea's record for most consecutive games without a loss, as the Blues' previous record stood at eight games. Luiz Felipe Scolari (2008) and José Mourinho(2004) led Stamford Bridge's crew to a total of eight games without a loss from the beginning of their stints as coaches.
Despite this numbers, it seems rather unlikely for Hiddink to keep his job, as owner Roman Abramovich seems ready to sign either Antonio Conte or Massimiliano Allegri to lead the Blues next season.
