Manchester United are hoping for better days ahead as midfielder hints at recovery as soon as next month.

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has hinted that he could return from injury in March. The 31-year-old German midfielder, who picked up a knee injury at the start of the year, expects to be fit by the new month. He has also dismissed various concerns that he could miss the Euro 2016.

Speaking to German daily Bild, he said:

"Unless the European Championships is suddenly brought forward to the start of March, then it looks good.

"A medial ligament tear takes time, but everything is healing well. I know my body, everything will be ok.

"In about five days, I'll begin to start running again and five days after that I should be training with a ball again. I should be completely back on board in March."

The FIFA World Cup winner has made 114 appearances for Germany and scored 23 goals. He signed for the English giants on july 13, 2015 for £6.5 million and become the first German to feature in the first team at Old Trafford.

Before picking the knee injury, he had made 27 appearances for the Red Devils and scored one goal. As the Euro 2016 kicks off in June 10, the former Bayern Munich man, who is also the captain of Germany’s national football team, is expected to rally Die Mannschaft against Ukraine in their opening match. The World Cup champions have been pooled in Group C, alongside Northern Ireland, Poland and Ukraine.

The Red Devils host Danish side Midtjylland at Old Trafford for the second-leg of their UEFA Europa League fixture. They need nothing less than a win after losing 2-1 in the first leg at the MCH Arena in Denmark.
