Galaxy deliver result away in Philadelphia
The LA Galaxy defeated Philadelphia 1-0 at PPL Park. The home side could have tied late in the match, but were ultimately caught ball watching as LA’s star players kept control of the game to win.
A corner from midfielder David Beckham in the 27th minute was met by a header from striker Edson Buddle to give the game its only goal. Philadelphia tried in vain the second half to score, but Galaxy keeper Donovan Ricketts was sensational late in the half to keep out the Union’s best attempt from striker Sebastien Le Toux.
Ricketts now has 11 clean sheets, and Buddle has 16 goals so far this season. The Galaxy are closing out the season in style having beat Chivas USA last weekend, and now appear to have all their star players in good form approaching the playoffs.
