As Chelsea look up to finishing at a respectable position in the Premier League this season, the English club has confirmed two new signings.

Chelsea Boss Guus Hiddink has confirmed that the Blues have made two new signings as the deadline for the January transfer window draws closer. The Dutch tactician confirmed that the Premier League defending champions have signed striker Alexandre Pato and defender Matt Miazga.

The West Londoners are now finalizing the deals for the two players, and they will be officially unveiled as soon as the final agreement is reached. However, Pato joins the English side on loan from Brazilian outfit Corinthians. The Brazilian landed in London on Thursday to sign the deal that would keep him at the club till the end of the season, according to reports.

Pato arrives in London to sign for Chelsea Pato arrives in London to sign for Chelsea Pato’s signing has raised eyebrows, with some fans arguing that the 26-year-old has not played European football ever since he left AC Milan in 2013. However, in his defense, manager Hiddink insisted that the decision to sign him was not a gamble. He told the club’s website:

''Pato’s loan is at the paperwork stage. It is not a gamble. Coming on loan makes it possible to have a good view on him. We will give him all the support in this and it is up to him.''

''On loan is good for everyone to see whether he is happy with this club and whether the club is happy with him after this few months.''

He added:

''He has to settle, we will give him all the time to do that and get used to a very demanding league.''

''When he was a promising youngster it was nice to see a very stylish player and then he had a few years in Milan. After he did not make a big next step in Europe, he went back to Brazil so now he thinks he has another chance to make a step in Europe which is a brave step, but it is up to him and we will help him to get fit and see what he can bring to this club.''

Pato’s arrival could lead to the exit of Loic Remy on loan to Newcastle United, according to reports in England. The Frenchman has been struggling to impress at the Stamford Bridge since his arrival from Queens Park Rangers in 2014.

The Blues are also expected to sign a deal with centre-back Miazga (below) from New York Red Bulls before the end of the transfer Window on Monday evening. The Daily Mail reported that the 20-year-old was on his way to London for his medicals after the English outfit agreed to sign him for £3.5 million.Matt Miazga on his way to Chelsea

Hiddink also confirmed the youngster’s arrival at the club:

''He will be one of the squad members for the rest of the season, a young guy stepping up to the national team, and if you have young players you can see what they are capable of in training.’'

He will most likely be a replacement for Papy Djilobodji, who was sent to Werder Bremen on loan earlier last week. With the right support and attitude, he could be a long-term replacement for captain John Terry at the back.
