The deal to bring the Brazilian forward to the English Premier League is all but done.

With just a few days remaining on the clock for the January transfer window, Chelsea appear to have completed their most important piece business: the signing of a striker.

With French forward Loic Remy close to a return to Newcastle, and Radamel Falcao out of favor and being offered back to Monaco, that leaves Diego Costa as the only senior striker at Stamford Bridge.

But not for long, though, as the Blues are inches away from landing attacker Alexandre Pato from Brazilian giants Corinthians.

The 26-year-old headed for London on Tuesday and landed in England’s capital the next day, catching up with the press as he walked through Heathrow Airport, all but confirming his move to Stamford Bridge before any official announcement.

The former AC Milan striker was happy to be putting the finishing touches on his Chelsea switch. When asked about how he felt about the move, he said:

“So happy, so happy, I stay here for my dream. Chelsea is my new home 'Thanks Chelsea for the support. Thank you for my fans.

“I need to play I need to… I don't know what to say because I am so happy today.”

“I am very anxious. I want to know my new friends, new players, friends in the team. I'm really happy to play for Chelsea,” the Selecao star later told Sky Sports.

Pato is expected to put pen to paper on a six-month deal which will keep him in London for the remainder of the season, with the option of making his stay a permanent affair for £7m.

His arrival will ease the burden on Costa, with the Chelsea man recently struggling with his fitness, limping of the pitch in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Arsenal.
