The interim Dutch boss believes the team should focus on getting away from the last spots of the table before thinking about a fourth-place finish.

After re-writing the English Premier League's record books in the wrong way by posting the worst start for a defending champion, interim coach Guus Hiddink stated that, despite all the optimism, each and everyone of the players should think about getting away from relegation spots before thinking about playing European football next season.

"It's a very realistic view, twelve points to fourth, that's Tottenham. We all like to look up to the top of the table, but don't be unrealistic when you're six points off the relegation line. That's also a fact," Hiddink stated.

The Dutch manager remains unbeaten during his stint as interim coach for the Blues, winning two and drawing three games in the process. Nevertheless, the former Dutch National Team coach thinks all the players have to keep in mind how they got into this predicament.

"When I arrived, we started one point off the relegation line and now we have more room to breathe. We have to be careful we don't have a setback, If you don't gather points, you don't know what the others do," the coach added.

Chelsea's Saturday clash against Everton will be key for the team's hopes, given that their next EPL match will be against current co-leaders Arsenal. The tactician emphasized on what the team needs to do in order to reach safer ground.

"We have two difficult games coming up. Everton, a very good away record, and then Arsenal. We must work hard and be very concentrated and step up. That's why it was a pity about the 86th minute equaliser we conceded against West Brom," Hiddink concluded.
