Luis Suarez has been found guilty of insulting Espanyol players.

The Spanish Football Federation has handed Barcelona forward Luis Suarez a two-match suspension following a brawl with Espanyol players in the tunnel during their Copa del Rey fixture earlier this week.

The Uruguay international is accused of starting a war of words with Espanyol players in the tunnel and calling them ''crap.’’

Referee Martinez Munuera noted the incident in his post-match report and after going through it, the Spanish Football Federation found Suarez guilty of the insulting the opposition.

Barca will face their rivals Espanyol in the second leg of the fixture away from home in what is expected to be a cracker of a match. The Blaugrana will approach Wednesday’s fixture with a morale-boosting 4-1 advantage. As of now, Suarez will miss the clash and the quarter-finals of Barca triumphs over their long-time nemesis in the Catalan derby.

However, the decision to suspend the former Liverpool man could be revoked after the Spanish giants revealed that they would appeal the ruling. In a statement released on their official website, the Catalans claimed that Suarez did not use the offensive words and that the referee was wrong in his judgement.
