Man City come into this match after a morale boosting 2-1 win over Watford and will be hoping to put forth a good showing when they face Everton in the League Cup semi-final. The Citizens however have been inconsistent on the road and will be hoping to respond to their woeful away form as of late.

City have won just three of their last ten away games having suffered defeat in four. Another away defeat could dent their hopes of making it to the final of the competition.

Defender Nicolas Otamendi  has hinted that much of their inconsistency is down to the absence of talismanic captain Vincent Kompany who has been limited to just nine starts in all competitions due to injury.

In the Belgian's absence the Citizens have suffered defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Stoke and were also at the receiving end of a 4-1 thrashing at the expense of Liverpool. Otamendi has hailed his captain and has insisted that any side would struggle without him.

"We have all been subjected to some criticism at some point this season, but any team would miss Vinny. He is a top player, he is aggressive on the pitch and he has been a big loss for us," Otamendi said.

"We hope to get him back as quickly as possible and that anyone the manager puts in to replace him can stay solid during that time. The games I played together with Vinny, I really enjoyed the partnership, both in the derby against Manchester United and in the Champions League against Sevilla.
The Argentinean also had words of praise for his teammate  Eliaquim Mangala who he feels has shown progress both personally and professionally.

"Recently, I have been playing with Mangala and he is a top player too," he added.

"He is young, but he is developing as a professional and also as a personality, I can see that on the pitch.

Everton on the other hand have managed just a single victory in their last six matches and will be hoping to produce a better performance on Wednesday. They will be heavily relying on the services of Romelu Lukaku who has struck thrice in the competition so far.
