The Foxes can ensure that they stay top of the Premier League on New Year's eve should they manage to record a win over Manchester City on Tuesday. Claudio Ranieri's men have been in impeccable form this season but suffered a setback when they were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool, the loss only their second in 18 Premier League games so far.
Despite the defeat, their manager Claudio Ranieri has been satisfied with his side's progress and has urged his players not to feel pressure ahead of the tie.
"City is another fantastic test," the 64-year-old said.
"You know my idea about this [the title bid] - we are dreaming. We are in good condition and in a good position with 38 points.
"Now we can continue but I want to see my players enjoy it. I don't know why we were so nervous at the beginning [against Liverpool]. Why?
"Play football, don't worry. If you lose, lose. That's it. We have the time."
The Citizens on the other hand responded to their defeat at the hands of Arsenal with a thumping 4-1 win over Sunderland. City have been inconsistent as of late and will have to produce better performances if they are to win the league this season.
They will continue to be without their captain Vincent Kompany who was withdrawn just 10 minutes after his return from a calf injury. Fernando and Pablo Zabaleta will also remain on the sidelines for the match but Sergio Aguero could return after being rested against Sunderland.
Leicester on the other hand might be unable to use the services of their prolific attacking duo of Mahrez and Vardy who are struggling for fitness. The Foxes further have doubts over the likes of Jeffrey Schlupp and Danny Drinkwater.
