With Man United preparing to face Chelsea tonight, the fate of Louis Van Gaal will be the major topic of discussion. There are rumors from Old Trafford claiming that the Dutch tactician is set to resign whether or not his side beats Chelsea. And as a result, Man United are urgently looking for the perfect replacement for the former Ajax manager.
One option is to hire former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho but considering his characteristic drama, United are reportedly looking at the prospects of going for Pep Guardiola. However, Pep will only be available at the end of the season and currently, the inexperienced Giggs needs a proven partner on the bench at United.
It is for this reason that renown journalist Paul Smith suggests that Giggs will take over from Van Gaal as the club decides whether to hire Mourinho, and will be assisted by former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
@MarkTozer @JanAageFjortoft I wouldn't disagree. From what I understand Fergie has offered to step in and help Giggs. #MUFC

@MarkTozer @JanAageFjortoft I'm also told that while the Glazers would consider Jose Mourinho there are key individuals opposed to it #MUFC

Smith further claims that Man United’s American owners are willing to appoint Mourinho but some senior figures at the club are still not comfortable with the idea.
