The latest reports from England suggest that Premier League giants Arsenal FC are plotting to sign former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker.

Arsene Wenger is looking to boost his striking force to increase his chances of clinching the Premier League with the Gunners this season. The Star now reports that the French tactician has identified Javier Hernandez, popularly known as Chicharito, as the perfect addition to his striking force.

The Mexican is reportedly willing to return to the Premier League after being unceremoniously released by his former club Manchester United after a loan spell at Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid. The 27-year-old would like to return to England and prove his critics wrong, according to sources close to him. The Bayern Leverkusen forward had been linked with a move to the North London club several times in the past but the deal failed to materialize.

Now that Arsenal are widely considered as title favourites this season, Wenger is said to be willing to spend huge in the transfer market in January. Arsenal have failed to win the Premier League in almost a decade and their fans seem to be running out of patience especially after the 4-0 drubbing in the hands of Southampton on Boxing Day. Many fans of the Gunners are now getting worried that, without signing new players, the current crop of players could let the title slip out of their hands, like it has been the case for the past decade.

The Star further reports that Wenger is also planning to sign Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez, who is also a top transfer target for Manchester United and Spurs. Another potential signing is Mohamed Elneny from FC Basel, according to the Daily Mail.
