With the top of the Premier League on their minds, Arsenal will travel to Southampton to face the Saints on Boxing Day, with their hopes of claiming the English top flight's first place intact. Arsene Wenger's men will try to take advantage of the sloppy form showed by Southampton recently, which hasn't been able to win a game out of their last five.
Arsenal's won three of their last four games, scoring ten goals and conceding only two in the process. Will they be able to climb to the top by winning against the Saints?
Southampton
Ronald Koeman's side has struggled all-year long with injuries, and that situation has made it complicated for them to put up good numbers. Sitting six points away from the relegation zone, the Saints can't afford losing another game, following their defeats against Tottenham and Crystal Palace.
For this game, Koeman will not have Florin Gardos and Jay Rodriguez available, both out due to injury.
The team remembered Southampton's last win against Arsenal last season.

Arsenal
Just when things seemed to get tough for Arsenal, the Gunners have kept up their pursue of Leicester City at the top of the table, winning three games despite a number of injuries to crucial players. Alexis Sánchez, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla among others will have to sit their game against the Saints on Saturday, but the team's hopes of success will be based on the same lineup that ended up beating Manchester City on Monday night.
During that run, Mesut Özil's performances have proved to be key for Wenger's crew, adding up goals and assists to his tally. In fact, the German playmaker is just six assists away from setting a new record in Premier League history.
Head to head
Neither team has been able to establish a clear dominance against the other in their most recent six games. Each side has won a couple of games, while the other two have ended up in a draw. However, Southampton has not lost against Arsenal while playing at St. Mary's Stadium in the last three games, although only the last one saw the Saints win all the points.
