The Argentinean was sought out by activist Jasmina Fajkic in order to raise funds for medical equipment that will be used by a children's hospital.

According to a Bosnian newspaper, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi decided to contribute to a sports auction that's set to provide funds for medical equipment. His donation will be used to help the pediatric wing of a hospital in the city of Travnik.

Humanitarian activist Jasmina Fajkic got in touch with Messi, and when the player realized the help would benefit a number of kids in need, he decided to chip in.

"As soon as he was contacted by some Catalan activists, he was kind enough to send us a signed jersey for us to sell in our auction," Fajkic stated.

Messi signing a jersey earlier this month.

The auction, which started on December 21st and will end on January 5th, will also give fans the chance to bid for signed jerseys by Mateo Kovacic and Bosnian stars Edin Dzeko and Miralem Pjanic. All funds raised will be used to buy new medical equipment.

The Bosnian activist revealed that there's already a €500 bid for the superstar's jersey.
