The likes of Barca, Chelsea, Man City, and Bayern await the French giants in the last 16, however.

On Monday, French giants Paris Saint-Germain will find out their fate in the next round of the Champions League, with the draw for the last 16 being held in Nyon.

The Ligue 1 holders face a great chance of encountering a nightmare opponent, with the likes of Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Atletico awaiting them due to Les Parisies second-place finish in their group.

Nonetheless, Brazilian center-back David Luiz still backs his team to go all the way and clinch the ultimate prize.

“Of course. It’s the Champions League so you can’t choose too much if you want to win," the Selecao man said when asked whether Laurent Blanc’s crew could lift the Champions League.

“There are the best players and the best coaches so you need to be ready to win against anybody. We want to show the evolution [of the club], even when I was not here - we are going the right way to improve.

“The Champions League is about details, too, like last year; if we had everyone available to play against Barcelona in both games it would have been totally different.

"We didn’t have everyone able to play. Many people were injured or suspended or not 100 percent right physically.”

PSG finished as runners-up after losing to Real Madrid, a win which Luiz belives Los Blancos full deserved. Despite this, the former Chelsea and Benfica defender remains confident in the club’s philosophy.

“I think they were better than us at that moment,” the Brazilian added.

“They didn’t start the season very well but they arrived at the high level at the right moment. That made the difference. The details after the group stage make the difference.

“I trust my team, I trust our philosophy and I trust our coach. We can do great things in the Champions League. We can think about the title, but we have to think step by step, keep our humility and to try to improve every day.”
