Sources indicate that the estranged Spanish goalkeeper, who hasn't played a single minute this season with the Red Devils, could be underway to join Veracruz in the Mexican top flight.

Former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who's currently undergoing a nightmare at Manchester United, could be leaving Europe during the upcoming transfer window to join Mexican team Veracruz.

Sources indicate that the 33-year old shot-stopper will leave the Red Devils this winter after reaching an agreement with the team's execs. Although his future is still yet to be defined, a number of media reports suggest that he would join Liga MX shortly, as his former team-mate Ronaldinho did back in 2014.

Valdés signed a eighteen-month contract with Manchester United in January, but he has not played a single minute of the 2015-2016 season due to a controversy with coach Louis Van Gaal, who accused the player of not being a true professional. Van Gaal left the goalkeeper out of the squad that made the pre-season tour last summer, forcing him to train with the U-21 team. Furthermore, the Spanish goalie has been deprived from his first-team locker, as Van Gaal limited his contact with members of the squad, forcing him to keep his distance whenever the team is in the training complex.

A Mexican journalist revealed earlier that "Valdés intends to come to Mexico, and his agent is currently working on it". Club Atlas and Veracruz were the teams linked to the player's future, but Los Rojinegros dropped out of the race to sign Valdés.

Valdés would be the second all-star goalkeeper Veracruz hires. Back in the 90s, Los Tiburones Rojos signed Colombian ace René Higuita, who played for a couple of seasons with the squad.
