Both sides lost their opening games by 2-0. It is the first ever Champions League group stage game played in Kazakhstan.

There is no history of previous games between Astana and Galatasaray, so whatever happens this Wednesday at Astana Arena will definitely be history in the making. This will be the first ever group stage game of the Champions League to be played in Kazakhstan, a historic event by itself.

Galatasaray's Preview

Galatasaray was defeated by Atletico Madrid in the opening round of this tournament. That time it only took Anotoine Griezmann 25 minutes to end with the Turkish side. Now, they hope to have learned from what went wrong and score their first three points before things start getting ugly.

Last year, they ended in last place of their group. If they are not able to win or pull a draw this Wednesday, they will continue to be in last place of Group C. This side has not found a way to win in any of their last nine matches of European competition.

The team seems to be conscious about their mistakes. For Selcuk Inan, this game is as important as any other match in the competition. They need to focus just as hard as if it was a game that could decide if they advanced to the next round or not.

"In the Champions League, you feel pressure in every game, not just this one, because there is always an objective to go further," Selcuk said.

Astana's Preview

Astana's coach, Stanimir Stoilov, knows that being focused for the whole 90 minutes is the key to being successful in this game. He knows that the whole country of Kazakhstan will be behind his men and watching this historic game.

"First, we have to think about discipline on the field, and giving our best. If we don't, there could be mistakes, but it will be good experience for us regardless," Stoilov mentioned

Their team lost 2-0 to Sporting Benfica. This time, they have the advantage of playing at home, but that does not mean it will be an easy game. In their last five games, the team has won twice, drawn twice and lost once (UCL game). The team has a positive record in Champions League Games (3-2-2).

Injuries and Suspensions

As for the injured and suspended players for this game, the list is the next one. Galatasaray won't count with Burak Yılmaz (hamstring) and Hamit Altıntop (knee). The home team has Twumasi suspended and Akhmetov dealing with a groin problem, so he will be a game-time decision.
