Tottenham Hotspurs played with two strikers upfront as they went down 3-0 in 30 minutes away to Young Boys the other time.

Now Coach Harry Redknapp is keen to avoid the same mistake again as he takes Spurs away to Werder Bremen on match-day one of the UEFA Champions League. In an interview with Sky Sports, the manager openly spoke about ideas concerning Tottenham Hotspur’s formation.

Harry Redknapp, who would have to deal with the absence of crocked Jermaine Defoe, explained:

“I’m not going away from home to play 4-4-2 as we’ll get opened up. We’ll go to Germany and play with a diamond. So they [Werder Bremen] will have four players in the middle of the park.

“We have two in there, and we’ll run around chasing shadows as they pop it around. So, we’ll have to look at that.

“At home, I’m 90 per cent sure that I’ll play with two strikers. But away from home, it is going to be different.”

It’s a huge possibility that striker Peter Crouch would be left upfront with Rafael van der Vaart supporting the English man in Tottenham Hotspur’s likely 4-4-1-1 formation. Giving brief info concerning the ex-Real Madrid star, Coach Harry Redknapp concluded:

“He can play in behind one striker, two strikers. That’s if you want to play that way or if you want to play a diamond.”

So Tottenham Hotspur are going at the Weserstadion to play a diamond formation. Will they find precious points in Germany?
