Daniel Sturridge is out with an injury but could be back by the beginning of September. Christian Benteke, Roberto Firmino and James Milner could make their official debuts.

Stoke City does not bring Liverpool good memories as they suffered a 6-1 loss at the end of the previous season. Now, with the same coach, but a team with many new names, the Reds hope to start the 2015-16 season the right way.

Simon Mignolet (Goalkeeper)

In goal, it is most likely that we will see Simon Mignolet return to the position that Brad Jones temporarily stole from him in some games last season. The Belgian goalkeeper ended tied with Thibaut Courtois as the keepers with the most clean sheets in the Premier League (13).

Out of these two, Mignolet holds an advantage

Nathaniel Clyne (Defender)

One of the new signings of Liverpool for this season arrives from Southampton. Clyne had his debut with England's senior team late last year, and it just shows how much talen there is in the 24-year old player. He was considered as an important player to help his former team end seventh in the EPL last season.

Martin Skrtel (Defender)

The Slovanian player joined Liverpool in 2008 and by 2012, he was voted by fans as their favorite player that year. Over time, Skrtel has consolidated himself as one of the best players there is in that position in the league. His playing time has increased since others around him have left, making him a natural leader in that spot.

Mamadou Sakho (Defender)

This 25-year old defender has been with Liverpool since 2013 and knows very well how to follow Brendan Rodger's instructions. During the last season, he was usually the one chosen by Rodgers to start almost every game. After dealing with some injuries in his first games with the team, his level of play has risen significantly.

Joe Gomez (Defender)

One of the youngest players in Liverpool's roster could give Moreno a run for his money in this position. We are going with Gomez because Rodgers is used to having a surprise factor in his lineup and this could be one of them. His talent earned him a spot in the "Team of the Tournament" in the U17 European Championship.

Jordan Henderson (Midfielder)

Another player coming in from Sunderland si most likely to step in front of the defenders against Stoke City and most likely the rest of the season. His performances in the Carling Cup during the Luis Suarez era earned him a spot in the 2012 Euro Cup roster for England. He has the technique that Rodgers looks for in that position.

Henderson wants to make sure he is ready along with his teammates

James Milner (Midfielder)

Milner carries a big weight on his back by having Luis Suarez' number hanging on the back of his shirt. He does not even play with the same position that Suarez played. In 2002 he became the second youngest player to see some action in the Premier League. 13 years later, his talents should clinch him a spot in Liverpool's starting XI. In the previous season, Milner started in 18 games for Man City, scoring five goals and deliverng seven assists.

Jordon Ibe (Midfielder)

Nigeria wants this boy to play for them. That means they see him as someone important. The fact that he plays for Liverpool at age 19 is a sign that there is something special in this kid. Some people compare him to Raheem Sterling. Last season he was named Man of the Match in February's Merseyside Derby.  While he was not a regular starter last season, he has the capabilities to become a key player this season.

Philippe Coutinho (Forward)

There is just too much firepower where to chose from in this 2015-2016 roster for Liverpool. They apparently had one of the best transfer periods in a long time. Coutinho is not one of those new players but is definitely thrilled to know who he will be playing with throughout the season. The fans really like him and thanks to their support and his capabilities, Coutinho won Reds' Player of the Year last season where he scored eight goals in 51 appearances.

Coutinho will want to keep pleasing the fans at Anfield

Roberto Firmino (Forward)

Firmino is one of those players that Liverpool did sign over the summer. He comes from Brazil and has had good performances with Dunga in the national team. The Reds were looking for him a year ago. Now, his dream of playing in the Premier League as a star could become a reality. We believe that Daniel Sturridge could be fighting with him for a spot in the starting XI later this season.

Christian Benteke (Forward)

The man that many people talk about has even made Mario Balotelli disappear from the conversation as to who will start the games for Liverpool as their main man in attack. Benteke, signed with Liverpool after coming from Aston Villa. Thierry Henry believes that it really depends on him how far his team can fight for a top spot in the rankings.

Benteke is working on his magic touch with which he scored a goal in his debut
