With the Premier League title on their minds, the Red Devils have a few choice weapons to rely on in order to add more silverware to their trophy cabinets.

During Louis Van Gaal's second season with Manchester United, fans, experts and owners are expecting nothing less than a Premier League title.  After finishing his first season with the Red Devils in fourth place, the Dutch manager will have to show all of his knowledge in order to make United true contenders, even with a number of transfers in and out of the team.

During the current transfer window, United has added a number of players expected to give the team the competitive edge they lacked in the past. German Bastian Schweinsteiger, Dutch wingman Memphis Depay and Matteo Darmian, among others, will be in charge of giving the club what it needs to bring back the good old days to Old Trafford. How will Van Gaal use his players to achieve greatness with the Red Devils? Here's a quick look at how his team could shape up.

Goalkeeper

David De Gea's future with the team is rather uncertain. The Spanish shot-stopper, who was named the Best Player of the Year, seems to be determined to make a move back to his home country to join Real Madrid, which has infuriated Van Gaal. Prior to the league's start, LVG has revealed De Gea will not be playing against Tottenham, but if De Gea's move can't be completed, he could be getting his job back later this year. Meanwhile, recently signed Sergio Romero will be Van Gaal's choice to guard the net. Romero worked under Van Gaal a few years ago, when LVG coached AZ Alkmaar. The Argentinean signed a free transfer deal with the Red Devils after a year with Serie A outfit Sampdoria. If De Gea stays with the team, he will be the first-choice keeper for LVG, but if the Spaniard leaves, Romero is set to start for United, after Victor Valdes' falling out with the former Netherlands manager.

Defenders

Van Gaal was unable to lure Mats Hummels away from Borussia Dortmund, with Matteo Darmian becoming the only defender to arrive during this transfer window. The Italian right back is set to become the team's starter, with Luke Shaw owning the left back position. Daley Blind will be playing in one of the center back spots, as Van Gaal has revealed, while the other nod will be decided between Marcos Rojo and Chris Smalling , who seems to be LVG's top choice for the role. The Dutch coach's options include Phil Jones, Tyler Blackett, Paddy McNair and Jonny Evans, who is expected to leave the team before the window closes.

Marcos Rojo arrived to the team last season, but hasn't been able to establish himself as a reliable player.

Midfielders

One of Van Gaal's tasks this offseason was adding depth to the defensive midfielder position, and the Dutch coach pulled it off by adding classy German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin to his options. These players are expected to become first choice for Van Gaal, and once Michael Carrick is fully fit, the three will be fighting for a spot in the team's Starting XI. Juan Mata is set to become the master mind in the team's midfield after putting up a very good season. Despite giving some quality performances last year, Ander Herrera is not expected to feature prominently in the team's lineups, taking a backup role this year. Marouane Fellaini isn't expected to become a regular, and even a transfer away from the team is not ruled out.

Strikers

After the departures of wingman Angel Di Maria and striker Robin Van Persie, Van Gaal may have to depend on Wayne Rooney as the team's reference up front. The captain, who loves the role, will surely make the most of it when required, with the help of recently signed wingman Memphis Depay. If United plays with only two men up front, Depay and Rooney will be the team's starters. If Barcelona's Pedro ends up arriving to the team, then Van Gaal could make him start as one of the team's wingmen, with Depay filling the other role. Mexican striker Javier Hernández will be returning to the team, but the amount of minutes he ends up playing will depend on Rooney's health, something that could force "Chicharito" out of the Red Devils before the transfer window comes to a close. Other options include Ashley Young and James Wilson, but neither seems to have much options of making the team's starters.

Rooney will be the team's go-to guy when they need to score, following Van Persie's departure.

With all that said and done, Manchester United's first Starting XI of the season might look like this.

(4-4-2): Romero; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw; Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Mata, Herrera; Depay, Rooney.

If things go the way Van Gaal expects them to, with De Gea living up to his contract and Pedro arriving to the team, here's what United's XI would look like.

(4-3-3): De Gea; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw; Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Mata; Depay, Pedro, Rooney.
