Real Madrid's symbol will keep playing for Los Blancos after all. Sergio Ramos, one of the best center backs in the world, finally got away with what he wanted and ended up signing a contract extension that will keep him with the team until the 2019-2020 season. Sources indicate that Ramos will be earning 9 million euros per year with this deal, preventing his departure to Manchester United, a club that was desperate to sign him.
President Florentino Pérez dodged a huge bullet by signing Ramos, who is considered one of the leaders inside the team's locker room, and Iker Casillas' worthy successor as captain. If Ramos had left the club, Perez could have gotten into serious trouble. Sources indicate that the deal was reached prior to the team's last game in China thanks to Sergio Ramos' brother/manager, who travelled to Shanghai to negotiate with Pérez.
The deal is set to be announced before La Liga starts, and with Ramos' situation solved, the team can set their sights once and for all to sign goalkeeper David De Gea, Perez's primary transfer target this summer.
Fans reacted to the news, stating Ramos' ability to force Real Madrid into giving him the salary he demanded.
I'm glad this Sergio Ramos saga has come to an end. He was never coming anyway. Now let's move on to the next target. #mufc

Sergio Ramos set to announce his renewal with Real Madrid until 2020. Time for Manchester United to hold onto De Gea until 2016.
