The Turkish midfielder will be joining Los Blaugranas for the next five years, but he will not be able to perform with the team until January 2016.

Arda Turan was finally unveiled as Barcelona's new player. The Turkish midfielder was always smiling during the press conference, where his contract was signed. Describing the moment as "a wish come true", Turan said he will take the following six months to get used to his new surroundings, since the transfer ban imposed on Los Cules doesn't allow him to play until January 2016.

"I'm happy to come to the best club in the world, the best stadium, and I am going to play with the best players. I'll try to give the best I've got,' Turan told the gathered media. Those who know me know that I've dreamt of playing for Barca since I was a kid. I received lots of offers, but when I heard from Barca I pushed all the others aside," Turan said.

Turan denied feeling any pressure about replacing Xavi Hernández with Los Blaugranas, since he believes there is no one who can fill the void of such a household name.

"Nobody can take Xavi's place because he's one of a kind in the world of football. He'll always be a symbol of Barca, he is a unique figure not only at Barcelona but as an icon of world football," the former Atletico Madrid midfielder added.

Arda will make a decision about his number once he's spoken to his new team-mates.

Turan will be the second Turkish player to join Los Blaugranas, following goalkeeper Rustu Recber's steps.
