Mainz's Sporting Director stated he was 'ashamed' of the player's conduct during the game against Uruguay, revealing that they will consider any offers to sell the player.

Following his well-known incident with Edinson Cavani, karma may be working his way into Gonzalo Jara's life. Today, Mainz's Sports Director Christian Heidel referred to the shameful incident, when Jara stuck his middle finger inside Edinson Cavani's backside, unleashing a reaction from the striker that ended up with a red card for the Uruguayan. According to Heidel, such a conduct will not be allowed by the team, and if there are any bids to sign the player during this transfer window, the club will be more than happy to consider them.

"He knows that if an offer comes, he can go. We do not tolerate that, since we don't need players that behave like that. More than the prod, however, it is what comes afterwards that makes me angry. I hate theatrics more than anything," Heidel stated.

The 29-year old player played 20 games in all competitions for Mainz in his first season with the club, but his reckless behavior on the pitch has been too much to handle for other players, who have suffered with his less-than-usual provoking "skills".

An infuriated Cavani tries to get back at Jara, moments after being sent off by referee Sandro Ricci.

Jara's actions under review by CONMEBOL

A disciplinary file was opened by the tournament's authorities to determine if Gonzalo Jara will be banned from the competition. During the investigation, South American officers will speak about the possible punishment for the local player, but only if the Uruguayan Football Association requests a ban to be imposed on the player. As of now, no further comments have been made by the tournament's disciplinary committee.
