The Bavarians were humbled by Pep's former side Barcelona during the first leg of the Champions League semi-final and it is important that the league leaders make a strong response against Augsburg.

Guardiola was not given the heartiest of welcomes when his Bayern Munich side was torn apart by some individual brilliance from Leo Messi who scored the first two and set Neymar for the third. This means that Bayern will have to score atleast thrice at the Allianz Arena against Europe's most in form side if they are to make it to the final of the Champions League. With such a momentous task at hand it is important that Bayern and Pep prepare well for the match starting with their home game against Augsburg

Ponder over his tactics

The Spanish tactician is one of the finest managers in the world of football but he got his tactics horribly wrong on Wednesday night. Guardiola who has made use of a three man defence for the majority of the season was expected to play a more traditional 4-3-3 formation bearing the opposition in mind.

However to everyone's surprise, Pep opted on playing three at the back something which did not bode well for the visitors. Furthermore, the former Barcelona manager's man marking and high defence line tactics failed to pay any dividends and the Bayern defence was exposed on a number of occasions by the Barcelona front line who found too much space to exploit. Such were the outcomes of the tactics that Guardiola was forced into changing to a four man defence with less than 20 minutes on the clock. It is important that Pep learns from his mistakes and does not insist on being stubborn.

Revert Lahm to right back

The World Cup winning captain is arguably one of the finest full backs in the world but has been used more of a midfielder by a Pep Guardiola. Such was the Spaniard's belief in Lahm as a midfielder that even Germany head coach Joachim Löw opted to play him in the middle of the park during the World Cup until reverting him back to the right back role in the latter part of the tournament, something which boded well for Germany.

Whereas Lahm has done well in the midfield it must be said that he will be needed more as a defender when Bayern face Barcelona in the second leg. Playing as a right back will put him in a battle with the massively talented Neymar and if there is anyone who can stop the Brazilian sensation it is Lahm.

Rest key players

The reverse fixture at Allianz Arena will require a performance of a life time from Guardiola's men if they are to make their way into the final. It is for this reason that the Spaniard must rest some of his players who already played on Wednesday night. Robert Lewandowski was forced to play with a mask following a fracture to his jaw bone he suffered in the match against Dortmund and did not seem to be at his best.

The Polish international along with a few other of Bayern's key players could definitely do with a rest ahead of the match.

Get the confidence back

Three defeats on a trot is something Bayern are definitely not used to and Pep has to ensure that he gets the confidence back in the dressing room. Some of his star players have come under fire especially young Mario Gotze who was criticised by Germany legend Franz Beckenbauer for acting like a child.

Jerome Boateng has also been mocked after being humiliated by Leo Messi for the second goal and it is important that none of the players are short of confidence when they face Barcelona in the return leg. A win against Augsburg could do wonders to the mood in the camp and help Bayern to stage a fight in the second leg.

Not to use injuries as an excuse

The Bayern squad has been cursed with an injury crisis and have had to make do without some of their best players including the likes of Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and David Alaba. However it is important that Pep and Bayern stop using this as an excuse. Despite being without some of his best players, Guardiola still has a world class squad to his expense and must ensure he gets the best out of them.
