France host Belarus on match-day one of the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. Without the injured Yoann Gourcuff and suspended key players such as Patrice Evra, Franck Ribery, and Nicolas Anelka, Coach Laurent Blanc can’t hide his frustration.

France Coach Laurent Blanc reacting under frustration. The former Bordeaux manager, who will take charge of Les Bleus for the very first time in a competitive fixture, explained to the media last time that the presence of experienced players was extremely important for the success of a team. Now as he was interviewed by fifa.com, Coach Laurent Blanc revealed the difficulty of having to play without play makers as France attempt to build a strong Euro 2012 qualifying campaign. Blanc avowed:

“Every player that improves the play of your team as well as the play of other players is motivating and important. But I cannot replace a play maker with someone who is not a playmaker. We will have to compensate this loss and set up the team differently.

“A team is composed of a backbone. This includes the goalkeeper, the two sentinels composed of a centre-back and a holding midfielder, the playmaker… and depending on the style that you adopt during the play; it also includes the centre-forward.

“To form a solid defensive line, you need a complementary centre-back pairing that is efficient and that performs just as well defensively as it does in terms of the construction of the play. It’s not easy.”

Coach Laurent Blanc may actually not have things easy against Belarus on Friday night. In his first competitive match in charge, the manager would love to rectify the mistakes that led to France’s 2-1 friendly match defeat to Norway on his coaching debut.
