De Gea claims Casillas is and will be number 1

Netherlands vs Spain: De Gea is not anxious to succeed Casillas with La Furia

March 31, 2015 By Oscar Casanova Perches
The Manchester United goalkeeper knows his time will come soon. He has perfected his abilities while in England.

David De Gea knows that there is a big competition to become Vicente del Bosque first choice when choosing a goalkeeper. But among Iker Casillas, Victor Valdez and him, it is a friendly competition.

The Manchester United keeper is not highly concerned in taking Casillas down from his spot, but on continuing to work and learn from one of the all-time greats in that position. Every day they spent together in the national team camp, De Gea is aware of who is number one.

"At present there are three of us and Iker remains the first choice. You never know what the future holds so you just have to live in the moment," De Gea said.

The Red Devils goalkeeper is enjoying being called up to the national team. He knows his turn to take over will come at some point. For now, he likes to keep learning of those he has in front of him like Victor Valdes, his teammate in Manchester.

"I'm learning so much from him, not just in goalkeeping terms given his immense experience, but also as a person," the 24-year-old keeper goalie said. "He's a very straightforward guy with a lot of character. Moreover, he's always ready to lend a hand".
