It is given to Brazil's best player in Europe. The trophy belonged to Thiago Silva for the past three years.

Almost two years later after Neymar Jr. decided it was time to move to play for Barcelona, he is now considered Brazil's best player in Europe. For that same reason, he was awarded the Samba Gold Trophy, a recognition that belonged to Paris Saint Germain's Thiago Silva for the past three years.

This award has been given out since 2007. The winner of the recognition is not decided by Brazilian press but by a French organization called Sambafoot. Neymar is the winner of the seventh edition of this accolade. In 2011, Barcelona's Dani Alves was a runner-up.

19 votes were enough for the 23-year-old striker to win the trophy this year. Willian from Chelsea and Joao Miranda from Atletico Madrid were tied in second place.

Neymar recently mentioned that he does not plan on going anywhere else Europe. He is happy in Barcelona and couldn't wait to stay with Los Cules for a long time. Paris Saint Germain might have other plans for him.

"Neymar is PSG’s No.1 target. [If] Messi made himself available, they would not hesitate to go for him."

At this point, it is just an idea from the French club to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic when his contract expires in 2016. By that time, the Swedish striker will be 33 and it is barely possible that he would stay with PSG.

It surely wouldn't be an easy negotiation, but PSG is determined to spend every last cent in order to make any of the two transfers happen. Barcelona will not let them go away so easy. Messi would be 29 by then, while Neymar should only be 24 and only in his third year with Barcelona.

Something else that could avoid Neymar's move to the French side from happening is that he is thinking on going to the Premier League after his time in La Liga. To see his former teammate, Alexis Sanchez shine with Arsenal, might motivate him to move to England.

No need to worry Barcelona fans, Neymar is not going anywhere anytime soon. His 17 goals for Los Cules this season just show how good he can be for the Spanish team.
