Today’s hottest news is that former Italian Seria A and Juventus player Diego has returned to the German Bundesliga. The Brazilian midfielder is finally a Wolfsburg player.

Diego - Wolfsburg playerDiego joined the German outfit for a transfer fee of €15.5m. Wolfsburg released a statement on their official site, which was quoted as saying:

“Contract until 2014: Diego’s transfer is perfect. The transfer of the Brazilian, Diego Ribas da Cunha, to VfL Wolfsburg is perfect. On Thursday, Diego signed a four-year contract to June 30, 2014. The midfielder returns from Juventus to the Bundesliga, where he played from 2006 to 2009 with Werder Bremen.”

Juventus also confirmed the player’s switch. A statement on the Italian club’s official website read:

“Juventus declares to have finalized an agreement with VfL Wolfsburg GmbH for the permanent transfer of Da Cunha Diego for an income of €15.5 fully payable once the player has signed his contract.”

 

Speaking to Kicker, Diego declared:

“I’m happy to be back in the German Bundesliga. Thank you. This could be a victorious year. A year in which we will achieve great things and qualify for Europe.

“I think that the league is long, and I hope that my return is a sign for it. I hope I can spread enough joy as I did for Werder Bremen.”

This weekend, the German Bundesliga continues. Wolfsburg will play against Mainz, Werder Bremen will play against FC Koln, while Bayern Munchen will be away to Kaiserslautern.
