After becoming one of Real Madrid's top prospects, it seems the French defender will be leaving Los Blancos to join one of the Premier League's top teams.

Following last week's rumors surrounding his future, French defender Raphael Varane would be willing to join Manchester United. Reports from the English press state that the Red Devils have already contacted Los Blancos to offer 40 million euros for the player's services.

The 21-year old defender recently signed a contract extension with Carlo Ancelotti's team, but he is still the third choice for a place in Real Madrid's defense, behind veterans Pepe and Sergio Ramos. Sources indicate Varane will keep an eye on the club's dealings with both of them, so that he can make a bette decision concerning his future.

Varane arrived to Madrid's capital back in 2011, and managed to take Pepe's place for some time during Jose Mourinho's final year with the team, but his physical problems disabled him to establish himself as a frequent starter under Carlo Ancelotti.

Manchester United has been searching to add some talent to their defense, even after signing Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo prior to the season's start. One of the rumors surrounding Van Gaal's team placed Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels within United's orbit, but the future of both players will surely be sorted out when the season's over.
