DONOVAN SCORES: Former U.S. National Team captain gets engaged

Landon Donovan showed the world that there is someone he loves more than soccer itself on Tuesday. That day, the former United States national team captain got engaged on that day to his girlfriend Hannah Bartell.

The most decorated player in U.S. history shared the news about his recent engagement via Facebook. Along with that news, fans were updated on what the MLS star has done ever since retiring from the sport he loves.

“I have never been this happy and I'm excited for our future together," said Donovan, who had been heartbroken when he was not included by Jurgen Klinsmann to play in the 2014 World Cup.

Among other things, the former Everton player highlights having time to travel, enroll in college and spend more time with his family. So far, he does not regret the decision of hanging the cleats last year.  

Donovan has already been married once to Bianca Kajlich for five years, and got divorced in 2011. Two years later, he started dating Bartell, who now works as a senior sales executive at a Los Angeles hotel.

Out of all the goals Captain America has scored in his life, he hopes this is the biggest one of all. Congratulations Donovan and his soon-to-be wife!
